New to St. Paul?
First off, welcome! We're glad you stopped by to check out our website.
Now, time to answer those hard-hitting questions that you may be wondering
either before or after your visit to St. Paul.
Who are you anyway?
We are St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, part of the Evangelical
Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). The current building is the latest; the
first having been constructed within the village of Haskins over 100 years ago.
How long have you been around?
We've been spreading the Good Word for over 140 years. Sound old?
We prefer "established." Our congregation members are of all ages and we
pride ourselves in having a format of worship that satisfies everyone's needs.
What can I expect when I come for worship?
On most Sundays we offer a 10:15 AM morning service that involves a contemporary liturgy (songs and
spoken response) and familiar hymns played on organ. On the first Sunday of each month our praise band leads worship
playing contemporary Christian songs with guitar, piano, bass, drums and
projected lyrics. Most people show up between 5 to 15 minutes before the
service.
What about those little wine samples?
If you mean Holy Communion, then yes we do, every Sunday. We believe that
Jesus Christ is present through Communion as well as other sacraments, such as
Baptism. We welcome all who believe, regardless of faith, to commune with
us at the Lord's table.
Is this a members' only club?
Absolutely not. We accept you for who you are, regardless of race, age,
ethnicity, or where you may hold membership. We consider ourselves to be a
people of faith called by Christ and by the grace of God, seeking to build
community by compassionately reaching out to all, through worship and witness,
to renew the spirit. In fact, we believe it so much it's also our mission
statement.
